Annette Newman has regained her RILBA National Amateur Billiards Championship title for a record 10th time in 11 seasons on tour, an amazing achievement for her. Jackie Trulock reached her first ever Amateur Billiards Championship final showing great promise for her future in female billiards here in Ireland.
The 2025 Championship was played in a knockout format with players knocked out at the quarter final stage contesting the Challenge Cup
Annette Newman from Carlow and the current Irish number 1 had a good result in her Quarter Final bout against the current Champion Valerie Maloney from Laois to get through to the semis on the alarm. Our newly crowned RILBA National U21 Billiards Champion Natalia Trochonowicz from Kildare had a good win over Veronica Hallahan from Dublin in their match pipping the win by 20 points on the alarm 115-95 to set up a meeting with Annette in the semis
At the other end of the draw Joanna Ward from Kildare was in fine form against Brigid Mulvany from Dublin to take the win and advance to the semis 157-53. Jackie Trulock from Dublin was in good form against the current Irish number 2 and 100 Up Champion Christine Carr from Kildare and took the win on the alarm 157-129 to complete the semi final line up

Annette continued her form against Natalia in their match and took the win on the alarm 156-123 and on the other table Jackie overcame a challenge from Joanna but held firm in the final minutes to take the win on the alarm and a place in her first Amateur Championship Final 155-130
The final itself was nip and tuck for the most part with a good deal of safety play but Annette showed her experience as the clock ticked down to keep ahead of Jackie who was playing good billiards throughout, however Annette crossed the line on the alarm 142-119 to regain her RILBA National Amateur Billiards Championship title and her 10th in a 11 seasons on tour. A fantastic achievement for the Carlow woman
Congratulations to Annette on regaining the title and well done to Jackie on her runner up place. Thanks to all the ladies for their support and participation.
