Annette Newman from Carlow retained her RILBA National Amateur Billiards Ranking number 1 in Ireland for the 10th season in a row, an amazing achievement for the Carlow woman, certainly a record that will be hard to beat
With the new season starting with the 100 Up National Billiards Championship, Annette took the title giving her top spot once again on the provisional list
In the RILBA National Amateur Billiards Championship Annette fell short for the first time in 10 years having won the title for the previous 9 years, she finished as a semi finalist with the title going to her good friend Valerie Maloney from Laois. Annette was delighted for Valerie who has been on the tour since 2015 and well deserved.
However over the next 6 ranking events she won 4 out of the 6 and was runner up in the other 2 and finished off the season winning the National League
While Annette struggled at times during the season after been out for over 3 months due to injury, she kept going and fought for every point during the season, showing why she is the best in Ireland
Christine Carr from Kildare finished number 2 at the end of the season and for the 10 season in a row, another great achievement for Christine, will she take the number 1 spot in the future, she certainly has the game to do that.
Number 3 is Jackie Trulock from Dublin, a very much improved player on tour having won two of the Amateur Ranking events this season showing great progress and well deserved like Christine always looking to gain ground on Annette whom they are chasing
Number 4 is Veronica Hallahan from Dublin after a much improved season on tour and is gaining great experience each season. Joanna Ward from Kildare finished 5th on tour and certainly would have been higher if she had not missed a number of events, Joanna is one of our strong players on tour and is much improved, a very capable player who is showing great progress
6th spot goes to the current National Amateur Champion Valerie Maloney from Laois, unfortunately work took Valerie away for most of the season and we hope to see her back to the new tour in 2026
7th place is Jennifer Earle from Dublin who is on our Scholarship at Maynooth University, studies had a part to play during the season and we hope to see more of Jennifer in 2026 as she is always a dark horse in events. 8th spot is Delia Keane from Dublin who is only on tour a short while and is very capable of a much higher ranking. She is looking forward to 2026
We thank all our ladies for their support during the season and especially our 8 youngsters from our School Academy at the Holy Family in Newbridge who enjoyed the 12 week league and are now ranked on tour for the first time and we hope to see them during 2026
