
Annette Newman from Carlow the current National Amateur Billiards and Number 1 player on the rankings got her first win under her belt of the 2026 season at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Recently
In this timed knockout event, Annette Newman from Carlow got proceedings off to a good start at the semi final stages with a good win over Veronica Hallahan from Dublin 127-67 on the alarm.
At the other end of the draw Christine Carr from Kildare and our Irish number 2 and 100 Up Champion got the better of Brigid Mulvany from Dublin in their quarter final match 97-47 on the alarm to go through to meet Joanna Ward from Kildare in the semis. Christine would finish the stronger in her semi final bout with Joanna to advance to meet Annette in the final in a close match 124-102
In the final Christine had chances against Annette as the clock ticked down but did not take advantage and Annette stayed close to her and finished the stronger taking the win on the alarm 127-99
