Claire Mill from Dublin won the RILSA National Snooker Ranking event the Griffith Cup at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently.  This is Claire’s 3rd time to win the Griffith Cup which is one of our longest running events on the RILSA Calendar.  It was first played for in 1992 with Jean McGregor winning the Inaugural title at the Mint Snooker Club Dublin

At the last 16 stage of the event, young Quianhui Ye from Wicklow took a 2 nil win over Brigid Mulvany from Dublin to advance to the Quarters.  Veronica Hallahan from Dublin had a close encounter with Valerie Maloney from Laois taking the win 2-1.  Tina Keogh from Offaly had a good 2 nil win over Jackie Trulock from Dublin.

Natalia Trochonowicz from Kildare had a good 2 nil win over newcomer Anna McKeown from Monaghan.  Anna enjoyed her first event on tour and the Monaghan youngster is another prospect for the future as we add more young players to the tour.  Margaret Browne from Meath had a good 2 nil win over Joanna Ward from Kildare to complete the Quarter Final line up

Annette Newman from Carlow got the better of the youngster Quianhui in their match with a 2 nil win for a semi final place.  Veronica was in good form against Tina and took the win 2 frames to nil to reach her second semi final place on tour.  Christine Carr from Kildare played well against Natalia to take the 2 nil win and a place in the semis.  Claire Mill from Dublin got the better of Margaret with a 2 nil win to advance to the semis

The semi finals saw all players up their game with Veronica potting the black for frame 1 against Annette and it would come down to the pink ball in the second with Veronica taking it to reach her first ever Amateur final on the tour.  Veronica has certainly improved her level over the past year with some good results and putting the practice is showing.  Claire had to play well against Christine to get over the line with a 2 frame to nil win to meet Veronica in the final

The final itself saw Veronica having chances and with a number of small breaks gave Claire a run for her money but Claire held firm to pot the colours from the blue to take the first frame and upped her game in the second to secure the win

Congratulations to Claire on her win and well done to Veronica on a fine performance throughout.  Well done to all the ladies for their participation.  We welcome young Anna McKeown from Monaghan to the RILSA Tour and we look forward to seeing her improve her level like all our players in the years ahead.

Thanks to our referees Stephanie and Martin Foley who officiated throughout the day and thanks to Dave Earle who refereed the final

Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their support

We will be publishing the rankings soon on this site and the top 16 will qualify to the National Amateur Snooker Championship with all 16 players seeded
