Annette Newman from Carlow won her second National Amateur Billiards Ranking event the Sharkx Open recently at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge in a fine display of Billiards throughout the event
In this timed round robin event Annette Newman from Carlow had a close match in Group 1 against Stephanie Foley also from Carlow taking the win on the alarm 55-51. Valerie Maloney from Laois took the win over Savannah Keane from Dublin in a low scoring match 41-22 on the clock
Group 2 saw Christine Carr from Kildare take on Joanna Ward also from Kildare with minutes to go Christine steamed ahead to take the win on the Alarm 67-42
In the second session, Annette took the win against Valerie in Group 1, 56 to 34 on the alarm and Stephanie won her match against Savannah 48-18 in a low scoring game
Group 2 saw Christine go up a gear against Delia Keane from Dublin to take the win 75-45 on the alarm
In the 3rd and final session of the evening, Annette saw off Savannah with strong performance 78-21 on the alarm and Valerie would play good billiards to take the win against Stephanie on the clock 53-24
In Group 2 Joanna had a close encounter with Delia but took the win on the alarm 41-32 in a low scoring match
With the results in it would be Annette and Christine who would contest the final
The final saw some good billiards played by both players with the players keeping it close on points for the first 20 minutes, however Annette got into her stride and scored well to finish on the alarm with the win 122-65
