Annette Newman from Carlow won her 4th RILBA National 100 Up Billiards Championship at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently

In this timed knockout event all matches were first to 100 points or 45 minutes

At the Quarter Final stage of the event Annette Newman from Carlow clocked the 100 points in 40 minutes against Valerie Maloney from Laois who finished on 62 points for a place in the semis.  In a low scoring match between Veronica Hallahan and Jackie Trulock both from Dublin, Jackie just scraped through to the semis on the alarm 59-54

Joanna Ward from Kildare went through to the semis against Delia Keane from Dublin on the alarm 74-65 and Christine Carr from Kildare won against Jennifer Earle from Dublin 70-52 to complete the semi final line up

In the semis Annette had to keep in touch with Jackie who is improving her skills in Billiards over the past year to eventually get over the line on the alarm in a close match 82-72 for a place in the final.  Joanna was in form at the final minutes of her match against Christine scoring well just before the alarm to take the win 84-59 to meet Annette in the final

The final was a close affair with both players only in a few points of each other going into the final minutes but Annette held firm and compiled a small break to take the win on the alarm 95-87 and take the title of RILBA 2024 National 100 Up Billiards Champion

Congratulations to Annette on her win and well done to Joanna on a fine performance.  Thanks to all the ladies for their participation and support.  Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their help and support towards female cue sports
