Annette Newman from Carlow won her second RILBA National Amateur Billiards Ranking event the Kildare Open recently
In this round robin timed event played at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge Annette Newman from Carlow and current Irish number 1 got off to a good start taking the win against the current Irish National Amateur Billiards Champion Valerie Maloney from Laois in a low scoring match with Annette claiming the win 44-33 on the alarm. Christine Carr from Kildare took the win against Veronica Hallahan from Dublin 48-22 in another low scoring match and Jackie Trulock from Dublin just pipped Joanna Ward from Kildare on the alarm 47-44
In session 2 Annette stepped up her scoring in these 30 minute matches and took the win against Joanna on the alarm 69-43. Jackie just pipped Christine on the alarm in their match 43-39. Valerie just got over the line against Veronica on the alarm 37-33 in a low scoring match
Session 3 saw Annette continue her good scoring and took the win against Veronica 68-32, Valerie took the win against Jackie in a close match 47-42 on the alarm and Joanna scored well against Christine to take the win 87-51
In session 4 Jackie got the better of Annette towards the final minutes with small scores to finish with the win on the alarm 52-44. Joanna would just get over the line on the alarm against Veronica 50-46 and Christine finished strong against Valerie in their match to take the win 71-29
the 5th and final session saw Annette once more score well and take the win against Christine on the alarm 67-49, Joanna continued her good form against Valerie taking the win 57-33 on the alarm and Jackie would improve her scoring against Veronica to take the win on the alarm 77-23
With the scores tallied it would be Annette taking the win on 292 followed with Joanna in runner up spot on 281 in 3rd spot Jackie and Christine in 4th place
