Cathy Dunne from Dublin won the 2021 National Amateur Snooker Championship at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge, 17 years after she won the title for the first time, is a fantastic result for her.

In the last 16 Cathy Dunne from Dublin saw off Joanna Ward from Kildare 2 frames to nil, with a good display of snooker for a place in the Quarters.  Claire Mill from Dublin had a close match with the current Champion, Sandra Bryan from Wexford and held firm to take the win by 2 frames to nil to advance.  Christine Carr from Kildare would see off Valerie Maloney from Laois in their last 16 match with a 2 nil win to complete the Quarter final line up.

Cathy would go through on a W/O into the semis with Emirjeta Doda from Dublin retiring.  Claire would see off Stephanie Foley from Carlow with a 2 frames to nil in their quarter final bout to meet her good friend Cathy in the semis.  Annette Newman from Carlow played well against Tina Keogh from Offaly to take the win 2 frames to nil to take a step into the semis while Christine kept up her good form against Jennifer Earle from Dublin to take a 2 nil win to meet Annette in the semis and complete the semi final line up.

Cathy started well taking frame 1 but Claire came back to level the match 1-1, frame 3 could have gone either way with Claire having chances on the colours but Cathy potted brown to pink to seal the frame and match and a place in the final.  On the other table Christine took the first frame on the black but Annette responded well in frame 2 to level and frame 3 saw Annette up her game to take it and a set up a final meeting with Cathy.

The final itself was very close indeed with Cathy taking frame 1 on a pink ball, Annette started frame 2 off with a few small breaks and a 23 to put pressure on Cathy who clawed her way back into the frame to get within a few points of Annette going down to the colours with Cathy capitalising taking her chances on the blue to black to take the frame needed and title of National Irish Amateur Snooker Champion 2021.
