The first staging of the Mary Raymond Cup took place at the Pierrot Snooker Club on Bacholars Walk Dublin in September 1986, now the location of the Arlington Hotel.  The Cup was sponsored by the Pierrot Snooker Club in memory of the late Mary Raymond who was a great player on our tour during the 1970,s and 80s having won the National Ladies Snooker Championship on 4 occasions.  Unfortunately Mary passed away in her early 30,s from Cancer and it is only fitting we continue to remember this great lady player who gave so much to our sport in those years at the beginning of what has to become a fantastic success in 2025

Cathy Dunne from Dublin retained the Mary Raymond Cup RILSA Ranking 2 of the season at the Celbridge Snooker Club recently

At the Quarter final stage of the event Claire Mill from Dublin had a 2 nil win over Veronica Hallahan from Dublin moving into the semis.  Joanna Ward from Kildare had a good 2 nil win over Qianhui Ye from Wicklow to meet Claire in the semis

At the other half of the draw we saw Annette Newman from Carlow go through to the semis with a 2 nil win over Brigid Mulvany from Dublin and Cathy Dunne from Dublin saw off a challenge from Jackie Trulock from Dublin to meet Annette in the semis with a flurry of small breaks in the second 20 and 28

Claire had to dig deep to overcome a strong challenge from Joanna in their semi final match but got over the line to reach her 4th final in a row of the season.  Cathy had a good win over Annette but not without a good challenge from the Carlow woman to get over the line with a 2 frame to nil result

In the final Claire took the first on the pink ball however Cathy responded well in the second to level the match 1-1 the third and final frame would come down to the colours with Cathy picking them off to seal the win and retain the Mary Raymond Cup

Congratulations to Cathy on her win and well done to Claire on a fine performance.  Thanks to all the ladies for their support and participation.  Thanks to Jo, Phil and staff of the Celbridge Snooker Club for all their help and support and providing excellent facilities on the day

Thanks to Stephanie and Martin Foley for their help refereeing throughout the day and Stephanie for refereeing the final
