Claire Mill from Dublin won the Maureen Butler Cup Snooker Championship recently with a good win over Cathy Dunne from Dublin in the final
At the Quarter final stage of the event Claire Mill from Dublin had a 2 frames to nil win over Brigid Mulvany from Dublin for a place in the semis. Annette Newman from Carlow who is only getting back to competition after some eight months out due to injury, had a 2 nil win over Anna McKeown from Monaghan to meet Claire in the semis
At the other end of the draw Louise Maher from Kilkenny had a good 2 nil win over Tina Keogh from Offaly to advance to the semis and Cathy Dunne from Dublin saw off Christine Carr from Kildare with 2 nil win to meet Louise in the semis
In the semis Claire took the first frame against Annette and in the second it would go to the colours with Annette having a few chances to level however it was not to be on the day with Claire taking the frame on the pink for a place in the final. Cathy took the first against Louise but Louise responded well to take frame 2 to level the match. In the 3rd frame Cathy started well with Louise playing catch up but would see Cathy close out the frame on the colours to move her into the final
In the final Claire played good snooker to eventually get over the line winning both frames needed but not without a good fight from Cathy.
Congratulations to Claire on her win and well done to Cathy on a fine performance throughout. It was great to see Annette back to competition on the RILSA tour and we wish her all the very best for the rest of the season. Thanks to all the ladies for their participation and support
