Shruthi L from India retained her Women’s World Billiards Title at Landywood UK recently. The youngster also won the Challenge Cup at the English Billiards Open showing great skill as she improves her standings on the WBL Tour
At the group stages of the event Shruthi L from India got off to a good start against Annette Newman from Ireland taking the win. Eva Palmius from Sweden won her match against Michelle Cohen from Scotland. Anna Lynch from Australia had a good win over Gaye Jones from Wales and Keerath Bhandaal from India won her match against Mhairi Mackay from Scotland to complete session 1
Session 2 saw Shruthi continue her winning form against Eva and Michelle took the win against Annette in their match. Anna won against Keerath and Mhairi would finish strong against Gaye in their match to complete session 2
In the final timed round robin session Shruthi was in fine form against Michelle and topped the group, Eva won against Annette in their match and would finish second in the group. Keerath won her match against Gaye and Anna won her match against Mhairi to top her group with Keerath in second place
With the semi finals set Shruthi would continue her strong performance taking Keerath 308 to 176 in this 90 minute match, Anna would also have a strong win over Eva on the alarm to take the win and a final place against the current holder Shruthi 263-164
With the final set between the current holder Shruthi and the 2019 Champion, this would set the stage for a great final. The first 60 minutes would see both players keep in close scores, however Shruthi finished the stronger in the final 30 minutes to seal the win on the alarm 347-222
