With the ongoing support and partnership between SBI and RILSA we are delighted to see a number of referee seminars being conducted by SBI Referees Association. This collaboration and work between both bodies is certainly bearing fruit since it was brokered by Sport Ireland and the Organisations concerned to help advance the Sport and in particular Female Cue Sports going forward
This now brings a total of 10 Female Snooker and Billiard Referees that are now part of the panel at RILSA, unprecedented progress indeed.
Snooker and Billiards Ireland are pleased to congratulate three Dublin ladies, Delia Keane, Jackie Trulock and Veronica Hallahan and Carlow man Martin Foley on becoming Class 3 Billiards Referees on Monday, 29th July 2024.
Their preparation consisted of three two-hour evening seminars held at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge who generously provided club facilities on each of the evenings. Guidance at the training sessions was provided by Billiards Examiners Brendan Devlin and Aonghus McAnally who brought the candidates through the various aspects of the duties of a Billiards Referee, covering such topics as table preparation, general positioning, scoring of matches and application of the rules of the game.
Jackie, Martin and Veronica will be in Leeds in early August for the Home Internationals and the Jim Williamson Open where they will have the opportunity to exercise their newly acquired skills and we wish them a successful and enjoyable week of Billiards. Meanwhile, Delia will also be busy developing her skills at various upcoming local events.
We wish all our new referees every success for the future
