Annette Newman from Carlow claimed her 3rd RILSA National Snooker League Title recently and retained the Larry O’Dea Cup which is very close to her heart.

Larry would be very proud of Annette winning the Cup.  Larry was a great supporter of female cue sports for over 30 years.  A fantastic achievement for the Carlow woman

It was yet another very successful league with all matches completed.  All league matches were of 3 frames played with the following points awarded, for a 3 nil win 5 points for a 2-1 win 3 points, for a 1-2 loss 2 points and a 0-3 loss 1 point

The highest break during the league was from Annette Newman with a 38 break

Week 1 saw Christine Carr from Kildare get off to a great start with a 3 nil win over Veronica Hallahan from Dublin, Joanna Ward from Kildare saw off Savannah Keane Dublin in a 3 nil win.  Tina Keogh from Offaly had a good win over Delia Keane with a 3 nil result.  Annette Newman from Carlow had a good 3 nil win over Stephanie Foley from Carlow and Jackie Trulock from Dublin finished off week 1 with a 3 nil win over Valerie Maloney from Laois

Week 2 would see Annette continue her form with a 3 nil win over Delia, Tina had a 2-1 win over Joanna, Veronica won 3 nil against Savannah, Jackie had a good 3 nil win over Christine and Stephanie won 2-1 against Valerie

Week 3 saw Jackie continue her winning streak with a 3 nil win over Savannah, Tina won 3 nil against Veronica, Annette had to dig deep against Joanna to get the 2-1 win and Stephanie won 2-1 against Delia.  Valerie had a good 2-1 win over Christine

Week 4 Annette was back on track with a 3 nil win over Veronica, Tina held firm against Jackie to take the win 2-1, Christine took a 3 nil win over Savannah, Delia got a good win over Valerie 2-1 and Joanna kept it close against Stephanie to get over the line with a 2-1 win

Week 5 saw Tina take a good 2-1 win over Christine and Annette was in good form against Jackie to take a 3 nil win, Stephanie won her match against Veronica 2-1, Delia won against Joanna 2-1 and Valerie had a good 3 nil win over Savannah

In week 6 Christine got the better of Annette with a good 2-1 while Tina kept her winning streak going with a 3 nil win over Savannah, Valerie had a 2-1 win over Joanna and Veronica had a good 2-1 win over Delia, Jackie was back in form with a 3 nil win over Stephanie

Week 7 saw Annette with a 3 nil win over Savannah, Stephanie had a good 3 nil win over Christine, Jackie had a close match against Delia and took the win 2-1, Veronica had a good 2-1 win over Joanna and Tina took a 3 nil win over Valerie

Week 8 would see Annette back to good form against Tina with a 3 nil win, Veronica took a 2-1 win against Valerie in a close encounter, Joanna had a good 3 nil win over Jackie and Delia was in form with a good 3 nil win over Christine.  Stephanie took a 3 nil win against Savannah

Week 9 and the final matches would see Annette with a good 3 nil win against Valerie, Tina got a 2-1 win against Stephanie, Delia saw off Savannah with a 3 nil win, Joanna won 2-1 against Christine and Veronica got a good 2-1 win against Jackie

With the points tallied it would be Annette who would take the title once again on 40 points followed by Tina in second spot with 33 points.  Third spot would go to Jackie with 29 points and 4th spot to Joanna on 26 points

Congratulations to Annette on retaining her title for the 3rd year in a row a great achievement for her.  Well done to Tina on her runner up spot with a fine performance throughout the league.  Well done to all the ladies for their support and participation throughout the league and we look forward to the 2025 league which we hope to get underway in February 2025

We were delighted to have Sandra O’Dea and Lorna,  Larry’s Daughter and Granddaughter in attendance to present the Larry O’Dea Cup to Annette who was absolutely delighted to get her name on the cup for the 3rd year in a row.  Thanks to Sandra and Lorna for attending the presentation on behalf of the O’Dea family
