Annette Newman from Carlow won the recent Ladies Kildare Open Snooker Ranking event at the RILSA academy Sharkx Newbridge recently and in doing so retained her number 1 National Ranking place for a record 7th time.

At the preliminary stage Louise Maher from Kilkenny saw off Jennifer Earle from Dublin 2 frames to nil to advance to the quarters.

In the Quarters, Annette Newman from Carlow was in good form against Christine Carr from Kildare and won the two frames needed to advance to the semis.  Tina Keogh from Offaly also playing well won her match against newcomer Jackie Trulock from Dublin 2 frames to nil to meet Annette in the semis.

In the bottom half of the draw Claire Mill from Dublin had to dig deep to eventually get over the line in the 3rd frame against Louise Maher on a black ball.  Louise now secures 4th place on the National Amateur Ranking a great achievement for her in her second season on tour.  Cathy Dunne from Dublin saw off Joanna Ward from Kildare with a 2 nil score line to meet Claire Mill and complete the semi final lineup

In the semis Annette took the first frame with Tina needing snookers on the colours, however Tina bounced back in frame 2 to take it and level the match.  Annette stepped up a gear in the 3rd frame and with breaks of 20 and 23 took the win 2-1 for a place in the final

Cathy had to play catch up  against Claire when Claire took the first frame but Cathy levelled in the second with the 3rd frame going all the way to a black ball with Cathy potting to meet Annette in the final

Annette got off to a good start taking the first on the colours in this best of 3, frame 2 would go down to a pink ball which Annette potted for the win.

Congratulations to Annette on her win and retaining her number 1 spot on the rankings also well done to Cathy for a fine performance and retaining her number 2 spot on the rankings.
