Elizabeth Lynch from Offaly retained her RILSA National Intermediate Snooker Championship title at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently.
At the Quarter Final stage of the event Christine Carr from Kildare and current National Intermediate Snooker Number 1 in Ireland got through a close match against the youngster Natalia Trochonowicz from Kildare 2 frames to 1 to advance to the semis. Joanna Ward from Kildare played solid snooker to take a 2 nil win over another youngster on tour, Qianhui Ye from Wicklow to meet Christine in the semis
At the other end of the draw former Intermediate Champion and current number 2 in Ireland Valerie Maloney from Laois had to dig deep to overcome a good challenge from Delia Keane from Dublin with a 2-1 score line for a semi final place. Current Champion Elizabeth Lynch from Offaly had a close encounter against Jackie Trulock from Dublin who had chances to take the match however Elizabeth held firm with a black ball in the first and a pink ball finish in the second to take a 2 nil win to meet Valerie the semis
Joanna played well in her match against Christine to get over the line in the 3rd frame to a win 2-1 and a place in her first ever National Intermediate Snooker Championship final. On the other table Elizabeth played solid against Valerie to take the win 2 nil and into her second Intermediate Snooker Championship final
In the final Joanna got off to a good start taking the first on a black ball and had chances in the second but went to a pink ball with Elizabeth levelling the match 1-1 the 3rd frame saw both players keeping close for a while, however Elizabeth got into her zone with a few small breaks to go ahead and take the frame on the colours and retain her National Intermediate Snooker Championship title
