Female Cue Sports Ireland held a premiere of their Documentary Part 1 at the Seven Oaks Hotel Carlow recently to celebrate 40 years of Female Cue Sports in Ireland
Hedgehog Productions produced a fantastic production showcasing the early years of ladies snooker going back to the early 1960’s and the official establishment of Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association on the 17th July 1986 as the new National Governing Body for ladies snooker in Ireland
The Documentary which will be posted on youtube soon, gives the viewing public an insight to the development and progress that has been made in particular since 2014 with the Reformation of RILSA and the various projects and initiatives that led to a surge in participation among young girls in cue sports through the many school academies that now exist
The increase in female coaches and referees has been unprecedented in our times along with over 1,200 members through our schools and the interest is growing as we progress our initiatives, we will soon reach over 1,300 members
With 130 days allocated to Female Cue Sports on our Calendar just goes to show how much we have advanced in the past decade or so
The Documentary also showcases English Billiards and since the establishment of the Republic of Ireland Ladies Billiards Association in 2015, we have had 40 ladies take up the sport competitively with 500 girls introduced to Billiards over the past 3 years and interest is growing within our schools
Thanks to Minister Jennifer Murnane O’Connor and Catherine Callaghan TD for attending the showing of our Documentary.
We are already working on Part 2 of the Documentary
Thanks to Greg of Hedgehog Productions Carlow for all his hard work in putting this piece of History together. Greg is very professional and a total gentleman, it was a pleasure to work with him over the past few years to get this very important Documentary showcasing our story over the past 4 decades
