Louise Maher from Kilkenny won the inaugural RILPA Pool Championship at Sharkx Newbridge recently defeating Sandra Bryan from Wexford 5 – 3 in the final.

At the quarter finals Christine Carr from Kildare had a 5-3 win over Emirjeta Doda from Dublin for a place in the semis.  Christine and Emirjeta have played pool before and were delighted to be part of this inaugural event as were all the other players on the day.  Sandra Bryan from Wexford had a good 5-3 win over Annette Newman from Carlow to advance and meet Christine in the semis

At the other end of the draw we saw Lynda Curley from Westmeath move into the semis with a good 5-1 win over Joanna Ward from Kildare.  Louise Maher from Kilkenny won her match against Louise Jordan from Meath 5-3, to complete the semi final line up.

Sandra drew on all her experience in her many years playing pool to see off Christine 5-0 for a place in the final while another veteran of pool Louise Maher had a good 5-2 win over Lynda to meet Sandra in the final

In the final Louise went ahead leading 3-1 but Sandra fought back to within 1 frame at 3-4 in this first run to 5 final however Louise took the frame needed to take the win and inaugural RILPA Pool Championship title 5-3 over Sandra

Congratulations to Louise on her win and well done to Sandra on a fine performance.  Thanks to all the ladies for their support and participation.  I know that Louise Jordan, Annette, Joanna, Emirjeta and Christine are new to pool and were delighted to be part of the event and are looking forward to future events in 2023.  Sandra, Louise Maher and Lynda are currently on the IPA tour and experience showed on the day however as you see by the results the newcomers to pool are very capable of playing well and can certainly improve over time.

We welcome Lynda Curley on our tour, she is the first female from Westmeath to join our female cue sports tour and we are delighted to have her on board.  To date we have female members covering 20 counties on our membership which is just amazing and helps us secure a great future for female cue sports in Ireland as we advance our development and promotions

Again thanks to all the ladies for their support and we hope to see all our new members attending events in 2023.

Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for providing excellent facilities for this event.
