Sandra Bryan from Wexford retained her National 6 Red Snooker Championship Title at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently and in doing so making it her 5th 6 Red Title overall, a fantastic achievement for the Wexford Woman.
Lynda Curley from Offaly was the runner up on the day in her first outing on the RILSA tour, a great result for her.
History in the making as we had our first ever 10 year old youngster Qianhui Ye from Wicklow play on the tour for the first time, showed great promise for the future as she is only playing 4 weeks, certainly one to watch out for in the future.
At the prelim stage 10 year old Qianhui Ye from Wicklow in her first ever event and making history took the first frame against Lynda Curley from Offaly who was playing for her first time on the RILSA tour, however Lynda levelled the match and wen on to take the 3rd frame to advance to the Quarters
Louise Maher from Kilkenny had to dig deep against Veronica Hallahan to eventually take the win in the 3rd frame to advance and complete the Quarter final line up
Lynda on her first outing continued her good form against Annette Newman from Carlow taking the win in a close contest and had a 27 break along the way to secure her spot in the Semis. Stephanie Foley from Carlow got a walkover from Tina Keogh from Offaly and went through to meet Linda in the semis
At the bottom half of the draw we saw Sandra Bryan from Wexford take a black ball finish against Louise in the final frame to advance to the semis and Joanna Ward from Kildare had a good win over Claire Mill from Dublin taking the win 2-1 to meet Sandra in the semis
In the semis Lynda played solid snooker as she gained confidence and made good scoring against Stephanie to take the win 2 frames to nil and a place in her first ever snooker final on the RILSA tour. Sandra had to keep in touch with Joanna as the match went all the way to the colours in the final frame with Sandra taking the win on the pink ball and in with a chance to retain her title
The final saw Lynda take the first frame with Sandra responding well to level the match, it would go all the way to yet another black ball finish with Lynda having a few chances at the black but it was not to be as Sandra went for a cut into the top right pocket to pot the black and take the win and retained the title
Congratulations to Sandra on her win and well done to Lynda on a fine performance throughout. Thanks to all the ladies for their participation and support. Thanks to Bernie Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their help and support.
