On Tuesday 11th April at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge, the final seminar in Billiards was delivered by Brendan Devlin and on completion of the seminar Brendan announced that all those who attended the Billiards seminars were now qualified as grade 3 Billiard Referees.
Also in attendance on the evening were Neil Shanahan and Shane Mason who delivered seminars in Snooker over the past few months and presented all in attendance with SBI neck ties.
Brendan presented everyone with ball markers with their names engraved and a mini list of pre match check cards.
Dan Carroll presented everyone with a ball marker and gloves as part of their qualification becoming official referees.
Our Qualified Snooker Referees only are Sandra Bryan and Peter McDermott
Our Qualified Billiard Referees only are Tina Keogh and Valerie Maloney
Our Qualified Snooker & Billiard Referees are Dan Carroll, Dave Earle, Annette Newman, Joe Lyons, Jennifer Earle, Joanna Ward and Stephanie Foley.
To have seven female referees qualified in both snooker and billiards is unprecedented in the history of our sport and we hope that more females will get involved in the future.
These referees will now form the official RILSA panel of referees who will be able to help out at our very busy calendar of events as we head into a new season for female cue sports.
Our referees will also be able to referee at SBI events as they are now members of the Referees Association.
Congratulations to everyone who Qualified and we wish them every success for the future. A special thanks to Neil Shanahan, Shane Mason and Brendan Devlin for all their help and support over the past few months and we at RILSA look forward to working with them in the future as the partnership between both organisations make great progress for the development of our sport
