Annette Newman was invited to referee part of the recent North – South Billiards Challenge individual match between Aidan Murray and Christian Kirk in the Celbridge Club

Aonghus McAnally who was officiating the match between the challengers Aidan Murray and Christian Kirk invited Annette to help out refereeing after her recent qualification as a grade 3 billiards referee also in attendance was Joanna Ward who also qualified as a billiards grade 3 referee along with Brendan Devlin who officiated as score keeper on the evening.

Aidan Murray went into an early lead with a number of small breaks but after a spell out from scoring Christian Kirk came back with small breaks to keep within easy reach of Aidan.  Christian got in and made a break of 67 to go ahead for the first time in this 750 up match but Aidan replied with a 70 break to get within 10 points of Christian at the interval

After the break it was Aidan who got in first and made a small break to just get ahead of Christian.  After a bout of scoring from both players, Christian got in a scored a 194 break to take the win and title.

Congratulations to Christian on a great win and well done to Aidan on a fine performance.  Thanks to Aonghus and Brendan for the kind invitation and well done to Annette who did exceptionally well refereeing part of the match, she was delighted to be given the opportunity and is looking forward to gaining experience in refereeing in the future.  All the girls who completed the refereeing seminars are looking forward to a future in refereeing as we progress the female cue sports here in Ireland
