Christine Carr from Kildare won the first National Billiards Ranking event, the Stars Academy Masters at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently in a very close contested event

The current National Amateur Champion Annette Newman from Carlow got off to a good start with a good win over Valerie Maloney from Laois on the alarm 64-37 while Christine Carr from Kildare held off a good challenge from Tina Keogh from Offaly to close out the win on the bell 56-49

In the second session Annette had to dig deep towards the alarm to finish with the win against Joanna Ward from Kildare 46-39 in a close match.  Tina was in fine form against Valerie and finished strong to take the win 62-26

Session 3 saw Annette struggle to find form in a low scoring match with Tina taking the win on the bell 43-35.  Christine continued her good form against Joanna taking the win 63-47

In session 4 Tina would close out the match against Joanna in yet another close encounter to finish 45-39 while Valerie kept close with Christine for most of the time and had chances to go ahead but with only a few minutes to go Christine had a few small breaks to take the win on the alarm 64-37

The final session saw Annette take the win against Christine on the bell 51-29 while Joanna would get her only win on the evening against Valerie finishing 56-24

Once the scores were added it would be Christine to take the win on 212 points followed in second place by Annette on 201 close but Tina was even closer in 3rd spot on 199 points followed in 4th was Joanna on 181 points with Valerie taking 5th on 125.

Congratulations to Christine on her win and well done to Annette on her runner up place.  Thanks to all the girls for their participation and support as always.  Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for their support, much appreciated.
