Annette Newman from Carlow won her 9th National Amateur Billiards Championship title at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently making it 9 in a row for the Carlow woman.  An amazing achievement for her

In Group 1 Annette Newman from Carlow had to dig deep against the youngster Jennifer Earle from Dublin in their match to just take the win on the alarm by 2 points 60-58 in a low scoring match in this timed round robin event.  Stephanie Foley from Carlow had a comfortable win over the youngster Savannah Keane from Dublin to finish on a high 97-31

In session 2 of Group 1 Annette upped her game against Savannah to take the win on the alarm 89-33 while on the other table Jennifer kept the pressure on Stephanie all the way to the alarm to take the win 73-41

The 3rd session in Group 1 saw Annette keep to her good form and oust Stephanie on the alarm 96-43 to top the group and advance to the final.  Jennifer took the Bronze medal as runner up in the group

In Group 2 Christine Carr from Kildare took the win against Joanna Ward from Kildare in a close match with Christine making a number of small breaks towards the final minutes to finish 90-73.  Valerie Maloney from Laois had to keep in touch with Delia Keane from Dublin as the final minutes clocked down but Valerie finished strong and took the win 63-43

In session 2 of Group 2 Delia upped her scoring going well ahead in the first 20 minutes with Christine trying to catch up but Delia kept scoring when at the table and took the win on the alarm 78-42.  Valerie upped her game against Joanna who tried to get back into the match towards the final minutes but Valerie scored well to finish strong 83-55 on the alarm

The 3rd session in Group 2 saw Christine just pip Valerie on the alarm in a low scoring match to take the win 59-57 while on the other table Joanna played well against Delia to finish strong and the win on the alarm 94-51.  Joanna would advance to her first National Amateur Billiards Championship final against Annette with Valerie taking the Bronze medal in her group

In the final Joanna kept in touch with Annette for the first 30 minutes but Annette started to score well and dominate the final 20 minutes of the match taking the win on the alarm 113-72 to take the title for the 9th year in a row, a fantastic achievement for her

Congratulations to Annette on her win and well done to Joanna on a fine performance, well done to Jennifer and Valerie on their semi final places and thanks to all the ladies for their support and participation
