Annette Newman from Carlow was delighted to receive the Larry O’Dea Memorial Cup on retaining her National Snooker League Title.

Sandra O’Dea the Daughter of the late Larry O’Dea along with his Grand Daughter Ruth were on hand to present the Cup to Annette recently.

Larry was an advocate of female cue sports for over 40 years and was always there to help out at tournaments as a referee or spectator.  His memory lives on in our organisation and is often fondly spoken about at our events.  Larry must have supplied over 50 cues to our members over the years, such was his commitment and support to growing the game in a way that was really appreciated by everyone who was lucky to have known him.

It was an emotional time for both Sandra and Ruth as they presented the Cup to Annette.

Annette herself knew Larry so well over the past 40 years having been on the same team in the Leagues for many years and we were like family she said.  Larry is a big loss to the sport and especially family, friends and all those who knew him on the snooker scene here in Ireland

Annette will cherish this Cup as it means so much to her and will be out again next year to try and keep it for as long as she can

The League was yet another success for us at RILSA with all the matches completed over a number of months.  Annette won all her matches and accumulated 42 points to take the win with Tina Keogh from Offaly taking runner up place on 34 points, Jackie Trulock from Dublin was 3rd on 30 points closely followed by Joanna Ward in 4th place on 26 points

Congratulations to Annette on her win and well done to Tina on her runner up place.  Thanks to all the girls for their support.  A big thank you to Sandra O’Dea and her Daughter Ruth for making it to our Academy Sharkx Newbridge to present the Cup on behalf of Larry

Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their support over the months of the League and we look forward to holding the Larry O’Dea Memorial Ladies National League in 2024
