Annette Newman from Carlow won the 4th National Amateur Billiards Ranking event of the season at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge, making it 3 wins out of 4 this season so far
In Group 1, the first session saw Annette Newman from Carlow take the win against Jackie Trulock from Dublin in a close match on the alarm 53-40. Veronica Hallahan from Dublin got a win under her belt in a low scoring match against Savannah Keane from Dublin 31-15
Group 2 saw Joanna Ward from Kildare just pip Delia Keane from Dublin on the alarm 58-52
In the second session group 2, Christine Carr from Kildare just got over the line against Joanna on the alarm 50-47 while in group 1 Annette struggled against Veronica in a low scoring match with Veronica just taking the win on the final seconds 29-25. Jackie Trulock from Dublin had a close encounter with Savannah in another low scoring match to take the win 36-25. All the players on the evening were struggling to get to their usual scoring form possibly due to the warm conditions
Anyway in the final session group 1, Annette made up for her earlier low scoring and finished with a win against Savannah who was starting to score well herself towards the final minutes 68-30. Jackie took the win against Veronica on the alarm 48-36 and in group 2 Christine finished with a win over Delia 44-34
With the results in and scores tallied it would be Annette and Joanna who would contest the final. The final itself was another close scoring match but Annette finished strong in the final minutes to take the win 85-74
Congratulations to Annette on her win and well done to Joanna on a fine performance. Well done to all the ladies who took part and and made the event a success. Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their help and support
