Annette Newman from Carlow dominated the 2021 National Amateur Billiards season winning all 6 ranking events for the 3rd season in a row, an amazing achievement for the Carlow Woman who now finishes Irish number 1 for the 6th year in succession.

In session 1 Annette Newman from Carlow would see off a determined Tina Keogh from Offaly in a very close match with Annette just pipping Tina on the alarm 42-38 in their 30 minute game.  Christine Carr from Kildare had to dig deep against Valerie Maloney from Laois to take the win on the clock 43-31 while Stephanie Foley from Carlow took the win against Jennifer Earle from Dublin in a low scoring match 32-18

Session 2 saw Joanna Ward from Kildare get off to a winning start in a close match against Jennifer finishing on the alarm 48-36.  Valerie went up a gear in her match against Tina and took the win 50-35 and Annette saw off Stephanie on the alarm to take her second win 53-21

In session 3 the scoring remained much the same as all the players seemed to get going in the starting minutes of their matches, however Tina had a good win over Jennifer on the alarm 47-20.  Annette won her 3rd match against Joanna 54-36 and Stephanie just pipped Christine on the alarm 38-35

Session 4 again saw low scoring with a lot of safe play in the matches, possibly due to this been the last ranking event of the season.  Christine had a good win over Joanna 42-28 and Tina just got over the line against Stephanie on the alarm 35-28 while Valerie and Jennifer kept close all the way to the alarm and finished level 25-25

Session 5 saw Annette get back into form against Valerie and finished strong to take the win 60-27 Christine also upped her game and played good billiards to take the win against Jennifer 74-31, Joanna would see off a strong come back from Stephanie to take the win on the alarm 41-30

In session 6 Christine continued her form and took a strong win over Tina 73-51 and Annette finished strong against Jennifer to take the win 70-28.  Joanna had to keep Valerie at bay for the most part with seconds remaining, Joanna scored a 6 to take the win 47-41

The last session on the evening would see Stephanie pip Valerie on the alarm 51-42 and Annette won her 6th match in a row against Christine 55-25.  Tina took the win against Joanna on the alarm in a very close contest 49-47.

After the points were tallied Annette Newman would take her 6th National Billiards Title in a row with 334 points followed in second place by Christine Carr on 292, Tina Keogh in 3rd spot on 255 and Joanna in 4th place on 247

Congratulations to Annette on her fantastic achievement in winning all 6 ranking events of the season and well done to Christine on her runner up spot.  Thanks and well done to all the girls for their participation and support and thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their help and support throughout the season.

We now look forward to the World Women’s Irish Masters which will take place at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge on 20th November and we wish all those playing a most enjoyable event.

Also coming up before the Christmas is our National Amateur, National Intermediate and 100 Up National Billiards events and the inaugural National Billiards League which will finish in 3 weeks time, so a lot of female billiards still ahead as we count down to the end of the 2021 season.
