Cathy Dunne from Dublin won the 2022 National 10 Red Snooker Championship title at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently adding it to her two National Amateur Championship titles.

In the quarter final stage of the Championship Tina Keogh from Offaly played solid snooker to oust Claire Mill from Dublin 2 frames to nil to advance to the semis while Cathy Dunne from Dublin had to dig deep to oversea a 2 frame to nil win over Christine Carr from Kildare to meet Tina in the semis

At the other end of the draw Annette Newman from Carlow and the current holder of the 10 Red title played good snooker to see off Emirjeta Doda from Dublin 2 frames to nil for a place in the semis.  Valerie Maloney from Laois played well to oust Joanna Ward from Kildare 2 frames to 1 in a closely contested match

Again Cathy had to draw on experience against Tine who is knocking on the Amateur door for a number of seasons as she is improving all the time but with Cathy playing crafty at times got over the line 2 frames to nil to reach the final.  On the other table Annette continued her form and saw off Valerie 2 frames to nil to meet Cathy in the final.

Both players didn’t play to their usual standard and with little between these two players over the years it was nip and tuck for the most part with Cathy taking the first frame on the pink and again the second frame went all the way to a pink ball with Cathy potting for frame and match.

Annette was the first to offer Cathy her congratulations on winning the title and wished her all the best.

Congratulations to Cathy on her win and to Annette on a fine performance.  Thanks to all the girls for their participation and support as always.  Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all they do for female cue sports its very much appreciated.
