Claire Mill from Dublin won her first ever National Title, taking the National 6 Red Snooker Championship title at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently.

Claire was knocking on the door on a number of occasions in the past and now was her time to shine as she took the win at the 6 Red Championship and in doing so, she has entered the list of winners and so well deserved for the Dublin woman.

At the quarter final stage of the event Sandra Bryan from Wexford got a walkover into the semis, while close a battle on the green baize took place in the other quarter final at her end of the draw between Louise Maher from Kilkenny and Elizabeth Lynch from Offaly with Louise just getting over the line in the two frames needed to advance and meet Sandra in the semis.

In the other half of the quarter final stage Claire Mill from Dublin had to draw on experience to eventually overcome a hard fight from Christine Carr from Kildare to eventually take the win on a black ball 2 frames to 1.  Annette Newman from Carlow played well to take the two frames needed against Grushenka Arnold from Dublin in their quarter final match to advance and meet Claire in the semis.

Louise played solid snooker against Sandra to take the win 2 frames to nil and reach the final while Claire again had to dig deep in a close match against Annette to take the win 2 nil to to set up a final clash with Louise.

The final itself was another close encounter with Claire taking frame 1 and Louise having a number of chances to level the match in the second but Claire potted the brown, blue and pink to take a 2 nil win over Louise and the National 6 Red Snooker Championship title 2022

Congratulations to Claire on her win and well done to Louise on a fine performance.  Thanks to all the ladies for their support.

Well done to Elizabeth on winning the plate competition and to Sandra on her runner up place.

Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their help and support as always.
