With the establishment of yet another School Academy with Female Cue Sports Ireland, an Introductory Level Coaching Course was conducted recently at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge with two female teachers, Katie Buchanan and Olivia Hickey from St Josephs Mercy Navan Co Meath and one of our longstanding stalwarts of our Organisation, Margaret Browne became the recent qualified Introductory Level Coaches in Snooker and Billiards

The Course instructors were Dan Carroll World Snooker Coach and Aidan Murray World Billiards Coach along with assistance from our National Snooker & Billiards Coach Annette Newman.

This now brings a total of 25 Qualified Female Coaches and 18 Assistant Coaches to the Organisation where we continue to grow our membership and establish a secure base to further develop and increase participation in cue sports among females in Ireland

Annette our President was on hand to present Margaret, Katie and Olivia with their certs on successfully completing the course.  We congratulate them on completing this very worthwhile course

The course covered basic table maintenance and care, rules of snooker and billiards.  How to set up the table, demonstrate the bridge, grip, stance and strike the cue ball in the centre

The day concluded with student practice, demonstrations and a brief question paper on the days activities.

A table is on its way to St Josephs Mercy in Navan in the coming weeks where over 700 girls at the school will have access to cue sports and qualified coaches to get them started on their journey in cue sports.  Margaret Browne will tie in with the School at intervals where she can advise and help Katie Buchanan and Olivia Hickey get a programme up and running to encourage girls to play cue sports

We at Female Cue Sports Ireland are delighted to have St Josephs Mercy Navan on board and to have such great interest from Katie and Olivia who are eager to get started bodes well for our future developments at true grass roots of female cue sports here in Ireland.

We thank the Principal David McCormack and Padraig Howard for their support in this and we wish Katie, Olivia and Margaret every success in the future.  We look forward to welcoming all the girls to cue sports and hope they really enjoy the facilities and opportunity to get involved

Thanks to Aidan and Annette for all their help on the day and thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for their continued support towards female cue sports
