15 Times World Billiards Champion Dave Causier gave an exhibition at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently showcasing his great skills at Billiards to a large audience on the evening. Over 25 of our female members were in attendance and the event was officiated by Aonghus McAnally who is a Director at World Billiards and is very much involved in the running of their events on the WBL Calendar
Dave gave a great insight into this fantastic sport and how easy it looks from a professional’s viewpoint but we know only too well how difficult it is to keep the control required to master the game and in particular the top of the table skills where high breaks are made
Dave Causier is one of seven players World Wide that have accumulated breaks of over 1000 in the last decade. Aonghus gave commentary throughout the evening and demonstrated how good he is at magic tricks
The 15 times World Champion Dave Causier played our current National Billiards Champion and Irish number 1 Annette Newman and he was impressed with her play and knowledge of shots in billiards. Dave also played our current National Junior U21 Billiards Champion Natalia Trochonowicz.
Those in attendance were amazed with the skills shown and demonstrated. With many saying how interesting Billiards is and are looking to practicing some of the shots shown on the evening. A number of our teacher coaches were in attendance and they will certainly introduce billiards to their students in the future.
It was a fantastic evening and we thank Dave Causier and Aonghus McAnally for their time and showcasing billiards in all its skills and knowledge.
We were delighted to have Melissa Byrne attend the evening, one of our up and coming local politicians who is very interested in supporting female sport.
