Annette Newman from Carlow won the National Amateur 100 up Billiards Championship recently at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge and in doing so retains her title.
This event was played on a knockout basis with the player who reached 100 up first or the final score after 45 minutes.
Christine Carr from Kildare saw off a good challenge from Stephanie Foley from Carlow in their prelim match finishing on the alarm 88-46
Annette Newman from Carlow had to call on all her experience against Tina Keogh from Offaly who is fast improving on the tour to get over the line on the bell with a few good small breaks to seal the win and a place in the final 86-48.
On the other table Christine was in great form against Joanna Ward from Kildare and with 15 minutes remaining on the clock, Christine reached the 100 to Joanna’s 19 points and booked her place in the final against Annette
The final itself saw both players play good billiards throughout but it would be Annette who would take the win on the alarm in a close contest 89-71
Congratulations to Annette on her win and retaining the 100 up title and well done to Christine who played great throughout. Thanks to the girls for their participation and support and thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their support.
