Annette Newman from Carlow retained her National Billiards League Title after winning all her matches throughout the League.
As the league was just underway, Stephanie Foley had to drop out due to injury. We wish Stephanie a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on tour soon
In the first half of the League, Annette Newman from Carlow got off to a good start with a win over Valerie Maloney from Laois 190-101 and Tine Keogh from Offaly just pipped Christine Carr from Kildare on the alarm to take the win 144-140
Annette continued her form against Joanna Ward from Kildare winning with a score of 174-114. Christine took the win against Valerie 172-119. Annette had a close match against Tine but took the win on the bell 153-139 and Joanna pipped Valerie on the alarm to take the win 155-145 in another close encounter.
Annette had to keep in touch with Christine as the minutes ticked away in their match, however Annette scored well towards the bell to get over the line with the win 154-147. Joanna closed out the win against Tine in another close game taking the win.
Christine kept to form against Joanna to take the win 152-129 while Tina saw off a challenge from Valerie towards the end to finish strong at the bell 127-90
The second half of the League saw Annette start well with a good win over Valerie 200-125 while Christine and Tina level at 80-80 on the bell. Annette continued her form against Joanna taking the win on the alarm 164-133 and Christine had a similar scoring win over Valerie in their match finishing 160-133
Annette had to pull on all her experience to get over the line against Tina and she did just pip her on the bell 155-147 while Valerie and Joanna were level on the bell at yet another identical score 80-80 as that of Tina and Christine. Annette had another close match against Christine taking the win on the bell 179-165 while Joanna had a good win over Tina in their match to take the win 133-96
Christine just got over the line against Joanna on the bell to take the win 138-135 and Tina finished strong against Valerie to take the win on the bell 165-78
Congratulations to Annette on retaining her National Billiards League Title and well done to Christine on her runner up place. Joanna finished 3rd, Tina 4th. Thanks to all the girls for their support and participation throughout the League.
