Annette Newman from Carlow won her 4th National Billiards Ranking event in a row the Leinster Open at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently with a good display of billiards throughout.
In group 1 session 1 Annette Newman from Carlow got off to a good start with a comfortable win over Jennifer Earle from Dublin 71-23 in these 30 minute timed matches. Tina Keogh from Offaly had a good win over Valerie Maloney from Laois taking the win on the alarm 54-23
Session 2 saw Annette have a close match against Valerie taking the win on the alarm 53-43 while Tina and Jennifer drew their match on the alarm 37-37. Annette had a good win over Tina in their match 58-30 to top the group and meet Joanna in the final. Jennifer would just pip Valerie on the alarm 30-26
In Group 2 Christine Carr from Kildare just pipped Joanna Ward from Kildare on the alarm 46-45. Stephanie Foley from Carlow had a close match against Christine in their match finishing with the win on the alarm 41-31. Joanna upped her game against Stephanie in their match to take the win 67-30 and top the group
The final saw Annette fire in a number of small breaks and take the win comfortably against Joanna 107-34 on the bell. Annette now secures her number 1 spot on the National Billiards Rankings for the 8 season in a row and with an event still remaining on the calendar, a great achievement for the Carlow woman
