The Republic of Ireland Ladies Billiards finally completed their 2020 calendar of events prior to the second lockdown. Again all guidelines were adhered to during our events.
Annette Newman won her 6th National Amateur Billiards Championship title in a row, completing a fantastic season of competition. After winning all 6 ranking events and adding the National title to the end of the season is a remarkable achievement for her.
In the first session Annette Newman played great billiards to take the win over the new 100 Up Champion, Joanna Ward 99 to 61 with a number of good breaks along the way. The Irish number 2 Christine Carr had to keep up with Stephanie Foley who was firing in small breaks each time she was at the table to take the win on the clock against Christine 71-39 a great result for her.
Session 2 saw Christine make good of her chances against Joanna taking the win 79-67 on the alarm while Stephanie kept in touch with Annette for the first 20 minutes with Annette stepping it up to finish with the win 67-48
The 3rd and final session would see Annette really get into her stride against Christine and made a good 25 break towards the end to finish on 93-55. On the other table Stephanie kept up her good form against Joanna and finished with a good win 61-44 over Joanna
Once the scores were tallied, Annette finished comfortably on 259 points with Stephanie coming in runner up spot on 180 points, only 1 point separated Christine and Joanna, Christine 173, Joanna 172.
Congratulations to Annette on a great win and well done to Stephanie on making runner up in the Championship for the first time. Thanks to all the girls for their participation and support as always. Thanks to Paul, Bernie and staff of Sharkx for all their support.
