Tina Keogh from Offaly won the National Intermediate Billiards Championship at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently. This is Tina’s second National Cue Sports Title after winning the 2016 National Intermediate Snooker Championship Title, she has come close on a number of occasions to taking more National titles in both cue sports.
In the first session of the round robin timed event Tina Keogh from Offaly played good billiards to take the win against Stephanie Foley from Carlow 57-31 on the alarm. Jennifer Earle from Dublin started well against the current Champion Valerie Maloney from Laois, taking the win on the alarm 57-20
Session 2 saw Tina continue her form against Valerie who put up a fight towards the final minutes but it was not to be as Tina closed out on the alarm with a few small breaks to win 43-31 in a close match. Jennifer would find it difficult to score against Stephanie who played a safe game for the most part to eventually take the win on the clock 37-15 in a low scoring match.
The 3rd and final session would see Valerie take the win against Stephanie on the alarm in the same manner Stephanie did against Jennifer previously 37-15. Jennifer had a close encounter with Tina and just pipped her on the alarm 39-34 in yet another close match.
When the points were tallied it was Tina who came out on top with a score of 134 closely followed by Jennifer on 111. Congratulations to Tina on her Championship Title win and well done to Jennifer on a fine performance and well done to all the girls for their participation and support. Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for all their support and to Dave for refereeing and Aidan Murray for all his hard work throughout the season in coaching and helping our players to progress in billiards.
