Annette Newman from Carlow won the 4th National Amateur Billiards Ranking event the Kildare Open at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently making it 3 wins out of 4 events so far this season.
In the first timed session Annette Newman from Carlow won her match against Christine Carr from Kildare 55-41 on the alarm. Valerie Maloney from Laois had her first win against Stephanie Foley from Carlow in a close encounter 45-34. Tina Keogh from Offaly and Joanna Ward from Kildare would see their match decided in the last minute of time with Joanna taking the win 56-50
Session 2 saw Annette continue her winning way as she took the match against Tina on the clock 58-46 in another close game. Christine upped her scoring against Valerie to take the win 73-40 on the alarm while Stephanie saw off a good challenge from Jennifer Earle from Dublin to take the win on the bell 48-36
In session 3 Joanna won against Jennifer with the match going to the final minutes to finish 58-41. Tina would pip Valerie on the alarm by 1 point to take the win 44-43 and Annette would continue to keep in contention against Stephanie taking her 3rd win in a row 58-32
Annette kept going playing well and took the win against Joanna on the alarm 53-36 in session 4. Jennifer got her first win under her belt against Tina on the bell 47-26. Christine had a good win over Stephanie in their match 58-32.
Session 5 saw Christine take the win against Joanna on the alarm 60-37. Valerie would see off a challenge from Jennifer towards the final minutes to take the win 39-27 and Stephanie stepped up a gear to take the win against Tina on the clock 59-32
Session 6 Annette played solid billiards to win over Valerie on the bell 76-41. Christine had a close match with Jennifer and won on the alarm 46-35. Joanna took the win over Stephanie 54-42 in another closely contested match.
The 7th and final session saw Annette complete the evenings play winning all 6 matches with a score of 57 to Jennifer’s 30 on the alarm. Christine would see off a good challenge from Tina to take the win 46-37 and Valerie had a good win over Joanna on the bell 44-32
Once the score were tallied, Annette took the overall win and Gold Medal with Christine in second place taking the Silver. In 3rd place was Joanna followed closely in 4th spot Stephanie
