Christine Carr from Kildare won her first National Amateur Billiards title recently, the National 100 Up Billiards Championship at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge. A great result for the Kildare woman
In the quarter final stage of this timed event or first to 100 points, the current holder of this event Annette Newman from Carlow won her match against Jackie Trulock from Dublin on the alarm 86-47. Valerie Maloney from Laois won her match against Stephanie Foley from Carlow in a low scoring and close game on the alarm 55-49, Joanna Ward from Kildare played well against Jennifer Earle from Dublin to finish comfortably on the alarm 86-42 while Christine Carr from Kildare got a bye into the semis
In the Semis Annette went up a gear against Valerie and finished strong before the clock to take the win 104-66, Christine just pipped Joanna by 2 points on the alarm finishing with a score of 76-74 to meet Annette in the final
In the final both players kept it close until the final 2 minutes with the score level at 80-80, however Christine got a score of 5 just on the alarm to take the win and title of 100 Up Billiards Champion for 2023 final score 85-80
