With the National Snooker League just 6 weeks into it’s fixtures, Joanna Ward from Kildare is just two points ahead of Annette Newman from Carlow after a good start to the leagues.  Joanna had two good wins under her belt against Stephanie Foley from Carlow and Christine Carr from Kildare each with a 3 nil win, she had chances in her match against Tina Keogh from Offaly to make a clean sweep in her first round matches but Tina came back well in their second frame to level the match and Tina went on to take a 2-1 over Joanna to put a stop to her possible whitewash in the league fixtures to date.

Annette Newman from Carlow started well with a 2-1 win over Tina who was in good form and with a 3 nil win over Stephanie saw her gain all those important points.  Christine Carr was in fine form against Annette taking frame 1 on a black ball and a pink ball in the second would see Christine take frame 2, however Annette played great snooker in the 3rd frame to advance in points to just within touching distance of Joanna.

The top 4 to date are, Joanna Ward 22 points, Annette Newman 20 points, Tina Keogh 18 points and Stephanie Foley on 14 points.

We will update the results of the first half of the league in a few weeks, in the meantime we wish all the players the very best in their remaining first round matches.
