A very successful 10 days at the World Pool Championships in Morocco for our girls in green as they certainly made history and did exceptionally well in a number of events but the icing on the cake was the team effort in getting a World title under their belts with a fantastic win over Morocco in the final of the World Pool Shootout Championship.
Our representatives, Sandra Bryan, Megan Randle, Carrie Randle, Katie Kiernan, Mary Duffy Lowbridge and Danielle Greasley were outstanding in the event as they firstly qualified to the Quarters after a number of rounds
In the Quarters they ousted a strong team from Scotland 4-2 and did the same in the Semi Finals against one of the favourites for the event England by the same scoreline 4-2 to reach the final
The girls held their nerve and produced great individual frame wins to take the title of World Eightball Pool Shootout Champions 2023 against the home team from Morocco. the final was played in great spirit and well done to the Morocco team on their own achievement, however it was just simply fantastic to see the Republic of Ireland Ladies Team take their first ever World Title and it shows their dedication and commitment to female cue sports does pay off if you believe in yourself and practice over the years.
I extend congratulations on behalf of the Board and members of Female Cue Sports Ireland to our members and players on the winning team, Sandra, Carrie, Megan, Katie, Mary and Danielle from all of us here in the organisation on your success and becoming World Team Champions and in doing so making history, well done to you all
