As the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association tour continues next weekend with the Griffith Cup at our National Academy Sharkx Newbridge, we see a number of players progressing up the rankings.

Annette Newman from Carlow who is the current Irish number 1 is holding the number 1 spot going into the second half of the tour, a great start for her, while Elizabeth Lynch from Offaly is number 2 after a great start to the season earlier in the tour reaching the final of the National Championship.  Elizabeth finished 23rd in her first season with RILSA

Cathy Dunne from Dublin and last season’s number 2 is provisionally number 3 so still in a great position as the tour progresses.   Likewise Claire Mill from Dublin was 3rd last season and sits nicely in 4th spot.

Louise Maher from Kilkenny finished her first season with RILSA in 20th spot and is currently in 5th place at the moment, a great result for her as she makes progress on tour.  Christine Carr from Kildare holds 6th spot just down one from 5th last season and is hoping to keep a top 8 place by seasons end next March.

Tina Keogh from Offaly is 7th on the rankings and is one of our most consistent players having held a top 8 spot for the last 8 seasons on the RILSA tour. Margaret O’Driscoll from Kerry and our current National Champion sits in 8th place after making it to 11th last season on her return to the tour after many years away, she will be looking to finishing in the top 4 by seasons end with the number 1 spot still up for grabs as anything can happen over the next 4 ranking events.

Stephanie Foley from Carlow drops from 6th last year to 9th at the moment, Joanna Ward from Kildare has kept her place at 10th and is looking for a top 8 spot this season.   Louise Jordan from Meath drops from 12th to 15th and like we saw a few seasons ago is very capable of better placing on tour after she took the number 1 spot in 2020

Valerie Maloney from Laois moves up from 13th to 12th place as she makes progress on the tour.  Michelle French drops out of the top 16 for the first time in a number of years going from 14th to 19th spot, likewise Carrie Randle from Wicklow drops out of the top 16 at the moment from 15th to 20th

Suzanne Randle from Limerick also drops out of the top 16 from 16th place to 21st and Megan Randle from Wicklow is down from 9th to 18th spot so far.   Sandra Bryan from Wexford was 4th last season and has dropped to 13th spot but as we know she can make progress and is one who will be gunning for a top 8 place at least by the end of the season.  Jennifer Earle from Dublin drops down from 7th last season to 17th so far, she hopes to regain a top 16 place before the end of the season.

Margaret Browne from Meath who was 24th last season is back into the top 16 at 14 spot a good result for her,  Grushenka Arnold from Dublin who made it onto the rankings at 22nd in her first season is now placed 11th well into the top 16.  Emirjeta Doda from Dublin is once again back into the top 16 after just dropping to 17th spot last season is back to 16th

As with many of these players mentioned above, they all can make progress on tour and are enjoying the competition so far and looking forward to the rest of the tour.

5 other newcomers to the tour last season have made a top 32 place which is great to see, Michelle Morris from Donegal is 24th, Christine Henderson from Donegal is 25th, Elizabeth Killeen from Galway is 26th, Laura Hughes from Limerick is 27th and Nafeesa Naz from Dublin 28th spot

The current National Champion and top 4 AMATEUR players at the end of the season will automatically qualify for the Team to play Northern Ireland in Antrim on a date to be confirmed for 2023.  Players ranked after them will be contacted in their order should spots become available, so your ranking position is very important for selection for teams etc

For the first time since RILSA was formed in 1986, we see players from 13 counties make it into the top 32, a great achievement for the organisation as we make fantastic progress in our development and promotions in female cue sports here in Ireland

We wish all our players the very best of luck for the rest of the season
