During the week the Republic of Ireland Ladies Snooker Association and Sport Ireland’s initiative, Women in Sport Week 6th to 12th March 2023 supported organisations help develop female sport and highlight various areas such as Coaching, Promoting, High Performance and Participation
Our World Coach Aidan Murray was on hand during the week to help with our Special Needs development at St Marks Newbridge and at our open evening on Tuesday 7th, where we had a number of newcomers to the organisation attend a coaching evening in both snooker and billiards.
On Wednesday 8th Aidan Murray, Dan Carroll and Annette Newman conducted coaching in both snooker and billiards for 24 young girls from the Holy Family School Newbridge at the RILSA Academy Sharkx and Saturday we held our last Amateur Snooker Ranking event of the 2022-2023 season again at our Academy Newbridge where we saw our High Performance players along with our Intermediate players compete for ranking points and gain positions on the two National ranking lists
Reports on all these events to follow soon on this website
The open evening was a great success with ladies from Dublin, Offaly and Kildare attending. They were given a brief on the Association and the Academy along with basic introduction to both snooker and billiards
Everyone in attendance were delighted with the professional manner the received in coaching and will certainly take part in future coaching development seminars and compete on the snooker and billiards tours during the year ahead.
We were delighted to Welcome Mary Duffy Lowbridge (Offaly), Lauren Brophy (Kildare), Sinead Leahy (Kildare) and Jackie Trulock (Dublin) to the organisation and development evening and we wish them well for the future
Thanks to Aidan Murray for all his help and support and to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for their kind support towards female cue sports.
