The 3rd National Billiards Ranking, the Griffith Masters was won by Annette Newman from Carlow.

The event was run in two groups of 4 players, ensuring very safe playing conditions with all those fully vaccinated added to the secure running of the event.  Again all the guidelines such as social distance, washing hands and face masks were adhered to during the short 30 minute matches.

In group 1 Annette Newman from Carlow got off to a good start against  Stephanie Foley also from Carlow winning the match 61-26 on the alarm.  Tina Keogh from Offaly also had a good start to the competition taking the win over Joanna Ward from Kildare 41-22

In the second session Annette upped her scoring to take the win against Joanna on the alarm 72-26 while Tina and Stephanie finished in a draw in a low scoring match that saw some good safe play from both players 28-28

The final session of group 1 would see Annette continue her winning streak with a 49-28 win over Tina while Joanna took the win against Stephanie 47-32. Annette topped her group and was into the final

Group 2 saw Michelle French from Kildare take a good win over Valerie Maloney from Laois on the alarm 49-38.  Christine Carr from Kildare was in form against Jennifer Earle from Dublin and took the win on the clock 56-31

Session 2 Valerie and Christine had a close encounter with Christine edging on points as the clock ticked down to take the win 51-42 while Jennifer saw off Michelle in a close match to finish with a small break to take the win on the alarm 41-30.

In the last session of group 2 Jennifer played strong as she took the win against Valerie 50-35 and Michelle saw off Christine on the alarm to take the win 51-37.  Christine would win the group and meet Annette in the final

The final saw some good billiards played with Annette finishing strong with a number of small breaks to seal the win on the alarm against Christine 88-47
