Joanna Ward from Kildare won the last National Snooker Intermediate Ranking event of the 2022-2023 season at Sharkx Newbridge recently and in doing so regained her number 2 spot on the National Intermediate rankings she held in 2020, a great result for the Kildare woman

In the prelim round, Louise Maher from Kilkenny was in good form and won her match against Christine Carr from Kildare to complete a semi final line up in the event.

Louise Maher who has been fairly consistent during the season had chances against Joanna Ward but Joanna kept it close and won the frame needed to advance to the final.  Newcomer Jackie Trulock from Dublin played solid in her match against Jennifer Earle also from Dublin to take it on a pink ball finish to meet Joanna in her first final on tour.

In the final Joanna went in front from the start and continued to add to her scores as the frame went down to the colours with Jackie needing snookers.  Joanna won the frame needed to take the title.

Christine Carr finished number 1 for the 4th time in 9 years, a great achievement for her.  Joanna Ward finished number 2 for her second time, Louise Maher is 3rd place up from 5th last season and Jennifer Earle holds 4th spot for the second season in a row.  More to follow on the rankings soon

Congratulations to Joanna on her win and well done to Jackie on her fine performance and thanks to all the ladies for their support and participation.  Thanks to Bernie, Paul and staff of Sharkx for their help and support
