Cathy Dunne from Dublin is on a roll after taking the RILSA Snooker Ranking 1 The Maureen Butler Cup at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge adding it to her recent Amateur Snooker Championship and 10 Red Championship wins.  Cathy now goes into provisional number 1 on the National Amateur Ranking list with 6 merit points separating her from Annette Newman from Carlow in number 2 spot provisionally

At the last 16 stage of the event Valerie Maloney from Laois went through to the Quarters over Jess Curran from Kildare.  Natalia Trochonowicz from Kildare had a 2 nil win over Brigid Mulvany from Dublin, Qianhui Ye from Wicklow had a close match against Christine Carr from Kildare going to the 3rd and final frame to secure a Quarter final place on the black ball, likewise Stephanie Foley from Carlow and Grushenka Arnold from Wicklow had a close encounter in their match going to the 3rd frame and again on a black ball finish with Stephanie potting it to complete the Quarter final line up

In the Quarters the current number 1 seed Annette Newman from Carlow had a good 2 nil win over Valerie Maloney from Laois for a place in the semis. Veronica Hallahan from Dublin had a good 2 nil win over Tina  Keogh from Offaly to meet Annette in the semis

At the other end of the draw Natalia Trochonowicz from Kildare got the better of Qianhui Ye from Wicklow in their match to go through to the semis on a 2 frames to nil scoreline.  Cathy Dunne from Dublin and the current number 2 seed saw off a challenge from Stephanie Foley from Carlow 2 frames to nil to complete the semi final line up

In the semis Veronica took frame 1 on a black ball against Annette however Annette responded well in the second to level the match 1-1 frame 3 would go all the way again to a black ball with Veronica taking it for a place in the final.  On the other table Cathy played good snooker to get past Natalia on a 2 nil score line to advance to the final

In the final Cathy upped her scoring and with a few small breaks secured frame 1 and with a 27 break in frame two secured her 2 frames to nil win over Veronica and to take the Maureen Butler Cup title for the second time

Congratulations to Cathy on her win and well done to Veronica on reaching her second National Amateur Snooker ranking final.  Thanks to all the ladies for their support and participation.  We welcome Stephanie back on tour after almost two seasons out due to injury
