Christine Carr from Kildare has won the opening National Intermediate Ranking Event of the new season at the RILSA Academy Sharkx Newbridge recently. Christine has now won 11 National Intermediate Snooker Ranking events since joining RILSA in 2014, an amazing achievement for her.
Her last Intermediate ranking final was back in 2020 as she has been out of form on tour over the past 18 months but has started well this season taking event 1 in Newbridge.
In the semis Christine saw off a strong effort from Tina Keogh from Offaly to take the frame needed to see her into the final while newcomer Grushenka Arnold from Dublin fought a hard battle against Joanna Ward from Kildare to take the win on the colours in the frame needed to meet Christine in the final.
This, Grushenka’s second Intermediate ranking final since joining RILSA last season, sees her game improved and this showed against Christine who tried everything to shake her off but Grushenka kept with Christine all the way to the pink ball which Christine potted for frame and match.
Congratulations to Christine on her win and well done to Grushenka on a fine performance. Thanks to all the girls for their support and thanks to Joanna for helping out refereeing the final. Thanks to Bernie Paul and staff of Sharkx for their continued support towards female cue sports.
